Usage[]

Exoskeleton plates can be used to craft sets of armor. All three variants of exoskeleton armor sets come with their own shields. Exoskeleton plates can also be used to craft Beetle Riding Kits and Compound Goggles.

Exoskeleton Plate[]

Exoskeleton Plate is one of the most useful resources in the entire Erebus. It is dropped by every variant of Beetle and Antlion upon death. As such, it is heavily renewable and the recipes that need it, need a LOT of it. It is heavily recommended to farm variants of Beetles for their exoskeleton drops in order to craft armor with.

Reinforced Exoskeleton Plate[]

Reinforced Exoskeleton Plate is made by arranging 9 Exoskeleton Plate in a 3x3 square in a Crafting Table. This process cannot be reversed. Reinforced exoskeleton plate can be crafted into reinforced exoskeleton blocks which are incredibly blast-resistant blocks that match Obsidian for sturdiness. This process cannot be undone either. The reinforced plates are also used to craft Augmented Scorpion Pincers and Umbergolem Legs.

Exoskeleton Armor[]

First Appearance Alpha 0.0.2

Standard Exoskeleton Armor is fairly weak, and has such a low enchantability it's not even worth saving the levels.

In regards to protection, the boots provide 2 armor points (1 armor icon), the leggings provide 2 armor points (1 armor icon), the chestplate provides 3 armor points (1.5 armor icons) and the helmet provides 2 armor points (1 armor icon). That totals to a mere 4.5 armor icons; very weak protection.

This armor is not very protective and it is highly advised you only use it if absolutely necessary. If you must craft it, the recipes match those of vanilla armors.

Reinforced Armor[]

First Appearance Alpha 0.1.1

Reinforced Exoskeleton Armor is far stronger than its meek counterpart; it matches Diamond Armor in both protection and durability. Therefore, the boots provide 3 armor points (1.5 armor icons), the leggings provide 6 armor points (3 armor icons), the chestplate provides 8 armor points (4 armor icons) and the helmet provides 3 armor points (1.5 armor icons) for a total of 20 points, or a full 10 icons.

However, there is a trade-off; whilst it matches Diamond in terms of protection and durability, it's notoriously bad for enchanting, and makes up for this by being renewable.

For those looking for the math, a full set of Reinforced Exoskeleton Armor takes 216 pieces of standard Exoskeleton Plate. It is crafted using vanilla-style recipes.

A variant of the helmet, the Reinforced Compound Goggles, exists and provides the boons of both the helmet and goggles.

A black, far tougher variant of the standard Exoskeleton Plate, Rhino Beetle Plate is only obtainable from the Rhinoceros Beetle. It matches the strength of Reinforced Exoskeleton Plate without needing to be crafted.

The stats of Rhino Plate Armor match those of Reinforced Exoskeleton Armor, although enchantability is unknown.

There is one significant difference in crafting, however; the Rhino Plate Helmet requires two Rhino Beetle Horns to craft, with the helmet shape built in the lower two lines of the Crafting Table and the horns in the top two corners. These horns are mounted onto the helmet once crafted and worn. Acquiring the horns, being a rare drop from Rhinoceros Beetles, can be strenuous but is well worth it for the aesthetics.

Rhino Beetle Plate has no other use at this time.
